Antique 1910s "Known & Tested" Calcium Carbide Tin (no contents) – Manufactured in Ipswich, UK (Bulldog Brand).

Add a striking piece of British industrial heritage to your collection with this rare, tall-format Calcium Carbide advertising tin. Produced in the early 20th century, this container is a fantastic piece of early automobilia, once used to hold the calcium carbide needed to generate acetylene gas for early motorcycle, bicycle, and motorcar lamps.

What makes this specific tin highly collectible is the fully visible manufacturer text running down the side panel: "PACKED BY THE KNOWN & TESTED MANUFACTURING CO. IPSWICH."
The front face features a wonderfully graphic British Bulldog mascot sitting above the classic "Known & Tested Since 1837" ribbon banner. The bottom section details its historical function, assuring buyers of a "guaranteed maximum yield of acetylene gas."
Whether you are a collector of regional East Anglian advertising, a petroliana enthusiast, or looking for a rugged, authentic industrial piece for home or shop decor, this bulldog canister carries an abundance of character.
