The 1817 “Bull’s Head” sixpence is a famous one-year type from Britain’s post-recoinage silver series. It features the laureate portrait of George III engraved by Benedetto Pistrucci — a likeness so criticised it was replaced the following year, earning the nickname “Bull’s Head.”

Struck in sterling silver with a crowned shield reverse, this short-lived design remains a highly collectible and historic piece of early 19th-century coinage.
